Istanbul: Water Rate at the Lowest Level in the Last Nine Years

According to Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI) data, the occupancy rate in dams, which was 34.81 percent on August 8, decreased to 33.37 percent as of today. The said data was recorded as the lowest rate compared to the same period of the last nine years. With the decrease in precipitation, the water level in 6 of the 10 dams supplying water to Istanbul fell below 20 per cent. The amount of water in dams and ponds supplying water to the city with a maximum water accumulation volume of 868 million 683 thousand cubic metres remained at the level of 289 million 84 thousand cubic metres. Apart from the dams, 506 million cubic metres of water was taken from Yeşilçay and Melen, which provide water to Istanbul, in 2023.
