Maui Island Burning for Eight Days
As the fires that started on 8 August on the island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii continued, the authorities stated that the death toll reached 106, but this number is expected to increase. It was announced that approximately 1,300 people were missing. State Governor Josh Green said that in Lahaina, where 12 thousand people live, people either fled or died in the fire. Governor Green said they expect to find between 10 and 20 bodies a day. In the disaster area, 20 cadaver detection dogs were brought to the city to find the bodies among the metal piles and ash piles.
