Hawaii Forest Fires

It was announced that the loss of life in the rapidly spreading fires that started on Tuesday on the island of Maui in the US state of Hawaii increased to 93. Hawaii Governor John Green said that almost the entire historic city of Lahaina, a tourist centre, was burned to ashes. As of now, 2,200 buildings have been completely or partially damaged due to the flames. One thousand 410 people were placed in mass accommodation centres. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) estimated the economic cost of the fires at $5.5 billion. It was also noted that 850 hectares of land have been destroyed in the fires so far.
