Nairobi: COP15 Initiated

World leaders and ecology advocates gathered in Kenya's capital Nairobi for the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the United Nations (UN) Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which has an important place in the global struggle for sustainable development, to address pressing issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss. The COP15 Biodiversity Conference aims to create a common will at the international level to draw a new roadmap for a more sustainable and disaster-resilient future. Nairobi is also hosting the 25th meeting of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA25) at a time when environmental issues are on the rise. Organized under the umbrella of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the meetings bring together scientists, policymakers and experts from around the world. Focused on providing scientific and technical guidance to the CBD, SBSTTA25 serves as a critical forum for negotiating innovative approaches to biodiversity conservation.
