Climate Change Could Lead To Food-related Civil Unrest In The UK Within 50 Years
Food shortages caused by extreme weather events could lead to civil unrest in the country within 50 years, according to new research including a survey of 58 food experts in the UK. According to experts, shortages of essential carbohydrates such as wheat, bread, pasta and cereals could be a possible trigger for such unrest. According to The Conversation, 40 percent of food experts say it is possible that more than 30,000 people could be affected by civil unrest caused by food shortages in the country within 10 years. And 80 percent of experts say that logistical distribution problems leading to food shortages will be the most likely cause of food-related civil unrest in the next 10 years.
